Part of the coll ective municipality (niem.Samtgemeinde) Hollenstedt. Appel is loc ated in the northeastern part of the municipality and the collective Hollenstedt Neu Wulmstorf borders to the east with the municipality Moisburg from the northwest, the municipality Hollenstedt from the southwest and south Wenzendorf municipality. Area of the municipality is contained between the river Este, left tributary of the Elbe from the west and the hills to the east Harburger Berge.
